Lay On The Floor.

It is good for the soul!

Is writing this an attempt to distract myself from the piles of clothes I have yet to put away in my tiny dresser? Maybe.

But there is one thing that I genuinely consider a free type of therapy……

& that is laying on the floor. Anywhere, really. Today, I am writing this laying on the eighteenth floor of my college dorm room, yesterday I was laying on the floor of my kitchen saying a few “see ya laters” to my sis&dog. Six months ago, I was happily laying on the green summer grass after a concert.

I am not sure if I owe an apology to the floor or something because oh boy, has it seen it all. Most babies enjoy floor time, so I must have never grown out of it?! Hey, childlike wonder or something like that.

However, today’s floor time comes with a heavy heart, too many thoughts and a familiar feeling of loneliness. College is such a blessing but such an uncomfortable adjustment. It is easy for me to distract myself with tasks and long talks with friends all day but the moment I get to my empty room I am brought to a new “low”, literally HA. In all seriousness being lonely is tough, especially for me, a professional yapper. But God has obviously put me in this position away from home to grow in my loneliness and know He is always besides me. I’m glad he doesn’t judge me as I talk out loud to myself!

I am in a different mood each time I lay on the floor, but the floor is always a constant, just like God. An odd comparison but one I think of often. Just like the various floors I’ve laid on have seen me at my best, my worst and everywhere in between. SO has my savior! The foundation of God’s love is like the foundation of the floors that keep us from falling through. Although, I am far more grateful for God’s “floor” than this uncomfortable tile I’m currently upon. His love is an everlasting comfort and constant in my life & for that I am grateful.

From the floor,

Kenz 💛
